We recently had a request for a custom built 6′ x 8′ storm shelter for individuals that had a hard time traversing our stairwell. Even though we’ve had stellar reviews on our stairwell, this customer was needing a custom solution. Without completely modifying our design and having costs skyrocket, we couldn’t meet their request. So we brought them a prototype of our steps and agreed to a mutually agreeable design. We kept our standard stairwell, installed some additional steps at the top and bottom of the stairwell and added an external handrail to alleviate their concerns. We made sure they were able to get up and down the steps before we left and they were happy with the final product.
On another note, this family got lucky and was notified about them being recipients of a SoonerSafe rebate just a few days before we installed their shelter.
